Discover some of Vietnam's most ancient and colourful communities with this three-day trip into the country's northern Hills. In the lush mountains above Hanoi, guests can trek through the valleys to discover local community, where life has gone unchanged for centuries. And an overnight stay in a traditional stilted house will ensure you become accepted as part of the tribe!
 
Day 1: Hanoi - Mai Chau - Pong Cong Village (L/-)
Today you take a drive West toward Mai Chau with one stop in Hoa Binh City for refreshments and coffee. Continue driving toward Mai Chau valley, about another 1.5 hours away, stopping on the way to take in the spectacular scenery. Arrive in the picturesque Mai Chau Valley surrounded by spectacular karst rock formations and rice paddies, check in your homestay or hotel and enjoy lunch. Spend full morning to relax or you can also choose to explore the surroundings on your own. For evening enjoyment, you may choose to take part in a traditional dance show with Ruou Can - a local wine (optional). Overnight in Mai Chau.
 
Day 2: Discover Mai Chau landscape and Thai ethnic culture (B/L/-)
After breakfast, cycle to explore Mai Chau beautiful ethnic villages including Na Thia, Nhot, Pom Coong, Lac and Chieng Chau villages. Be welcomed by the friendly local people, talk with them and discover their traditional culture. Total cycling time is around 2 – 3 hours on flat village paths. Take it all in: the spectacular scenery of Mai Chau and the relaxed rhythm of local life. Overnight in Mai Chau.
 
Day 3: Mai Chau - Hanoi (B)
After breakfast, spend this morning to relax or begin the journey back to Hanoi. Arrive Hanoi this afternoon. End of services. 
 
Option: If it is Sunday, there is the possibility to visit the colorful ethnic markets of Pa Co village (45-minute transfer) or Xa Linh village (40-minute transfer) where local people, mostly Hmong, come from the surrounding neighborhood to trade. These markets start very early in the morning and are best visited early in the day - they will finish before noon. Note this is an optional extra with surcharge payable - ask your travel consultant for further details.
